Ujung Kulon: Teacher Volunteer With Wanderlust Indonesia

A week ago, before Ramadhan start, finally I had a chance to join Wanderlust Indonesia Program. For this time the program is full for volunteering as an english teacher and computer. Ha! That’s why this posting is in english ;) practice makes perfect too right even for us? 

The program was held at Ujung Kulon, sub-district Sumur; Paniis Village to teach fun english for elementary school students, and Taman Jaya Village to teach english and computer skill for junior high school students from June 13 until 16. 

On night of June 12, we gathered at the meeting point, Slipi Jaya, before we began our journey to Ujung Kulon.

I was warned by Syahira and (again) from the itinerary that the journey would be... very rough because of the road was completely damaged. I could only imagined when me and Dini went to Cunca Wulang using motorbike last year. Hmmm, I guess it won’t be that rough. And yes it was not that rough! BUT... since we sat with 1-4-2 position in Inova (for the back seat there are two people PLUS an old style computer which you know how BIG the screen and the CPU is ouu yeah baby!!) and the journey took 6,5 hours so.. yeah we were exhausted. We slept in every position we could. The driver also started expletive when we reached Sumur––where the damaged road began until we arrived at Taman Jaya.

Truth or dare? (TRUTH!!). OK, honestly I’m not following the Pecha Kucha Night Series. Since this is the first time I come to this events my impression described in one word: INSPIRING.

"PechaKucha 20x20 is a simple presentation format where you show 20 images, each for 20 seconds. The images advance automatically and you talk along to the images. The first PechaKucha Night was held in Tokyo in 2013. PechaKucha Nights are informal and fun gatherings where creative people get together and share their ideas, works, thoughts, holiday snaps –– just about anything, really –– in the PechaKucha 20x20 format. Good PechaKucha presentations are the ones that uncover the unexpected –– unexpected talent, unexpected ideas. Some PechaKuchas tell great stories about a project or a trip. Some are incredibly personal, some are incredibly funny, but all are very different, and they turn each PechaKucha Night into ‘a box of chocolates’."

Last night, Pecha Kucha Jakarta held this Volume 22 at Es Teler 77, Adityawarman Street, South Jakarta, with a theme: Globetrotter.

Hidden Paradise Rammang Rammang: Kampung Berua Makassar, Indonesia

Jalan jalan itu menyenangkan dan ngga ada bosennya, apalagi jalan-jalannya di negeri tercinta, Indonesia. Mau tempat yang udah didatengin berkali-kali pun akan selalu ada adventure baru dan kenangan tersendiri. Kali ini saya pergi ke Makassar. Tujuan utamanya sih nemenin Cumi ke kondangan. Tapi aku mah apa atuh kalo pergi ke satu tempat tanpa melakukan hal-hal lain (baca: jalan-jalan, kuliner dan bengong liatin universe *duile~). Jauh-jauh hari sebelum pergi saya udah berencana ingin ke suatu tempat yang belum pernah saya datangi ketika dulu saya ke sini. Namanya adalah Rammang Rammang.
